Top tips for PPC landing page problems

Marketers wondering how to fix the problem of irrelevant landing pages in Microsoft’s adCenter have been offered tips on how to go about doing so.

Tina Kelleher of Microsoft wrote on the adCenter Blog for Advertisers that pay-per-click (PPC) ads can be rejected because landing pages have been deemed to have little relevance to the ad and keywords.

As a result, marketers would be well advised to check that their keywords and ads lead searchers to exactly what they are likely to be looking for, she explained.

Furthermore, it is a good idea to change any URLs that point to landing pages that lack relevance to the PPC ad in question, Ms Kelleher commented.

"A specific keyword placed with a generic ad and landing page could be deemed irrelevant because the searched term isn’t prominent," she pointed out.

Last month, TechCrunch reported that Microsoft is testing a self-service publisher ad product that lets third parties deploy Microsoft ads alongside their content.
